Besan pizza sauce can label

A can label is one of the hardest formats in design: wrapped around a cylinder, the image disappears at the edges and the seam position has to be calculated in advance.

For Besan’s pizza sauce we chose an approach that shows the product directly — a pizza photographed on a wooden table, with a red brand band above it. The red-and-white checked strip both nods to Italian cooking and hides the seam.

The label was built for the 400g can; for other sizes the same design is re-proportioned, because scaling the photograph pushed the brand band under the rim of the lid.
